dialoge workshop

Preparing for our dialogue sequence we got into groups and we started to discuss what we wanted our short sequence to include and we came up with a basic storyline through our other workshops we have picked up a lot of skills that we put together to create a professional looking sequence for example when setting up our camera equipment on our tripod and our microphone we went through step by step and put up successfully we then went to position our camera looking at rule of thirds and also the 180 degree rule by doing the workshops in previous weeks allowed us to do this smoothly and also correctly.  

things that I would have done differently is that our idea that we used for opening sequence was a police interview and we thought that we would use the microphone as a prop however looking back now we probably shouldn't have done this in the way we did we should have kept the microphone we were doing the audio for separately and use a separate prop for the microphone in the shot as this made the audio not as consistent and not as clear.  

this process taught us that planning carefully is very important and really thinking about the process and how we're going to do it as time is an endless and we ended up having to rush them things as we didn't properly think them out beforehand we've taken this opportunity to develop our skills so we in the future can work more efficiently as a team.  

When editing our sequence we all worked really well as a team and also used skills from our editing workshop to make the process run smoothly we all had to go on editing individually and together we were able to add our own ideas and we bounced off each other really well giving us a well edited and professional looking video.  

We looked at all the clips that we had shot we chose the ones that we thought had the most potential and we dragged them into the timeline we had to eliminate clips that weren't quite level or the camera composition wasn't to a high standard we took clips out if they were a little bit out of focus we did this price as until we found the clips that we thought worked the best and looked the best together this really helped us refresh our memory on our editing workshop and we also learned new skills along the way for example some more shortcuts and key terminology. it definitely wasn't all perfect we did make a few mistakes but they were well corrected in time again going back to the point of the microphone we didn't have the best audio we had to make do of what we had however going forward we know this is something that we need to improve and we will do for next time. another thing that we could improve on is not rushing there's no need to make the process faster than it needs to be taking your time is really important and it definitely shows in the end result so next time when we go to edit our real opening sequence I need to remember that speed isn't the most important thing and what matters is that you produce a professional looking opening sequence that is engaging to your audience.  

When we go to actually approach our real opening sequence we have definitely learned a lot of tricks and ways to make the process run smoothly this workshop in particular has giving us a good idea of things that we need to improve on and things that we will continue to do it helped us a lot in terms of developing our skills to then come up with the best opening sequence possible.
