props, costume, location

In terms of props we've decided to keep it quite minimal we want the stereotypical things you would find at a crime scene for example we have fake blood fake knife and a gun for the detective. When it came to who will get what we handed out the roles equally Bashy has bought the blood I'm getting the knife and in terms of the fake gun we want to do some more research and trying with different shots.

As a sequence is a action / horror we wanted that to be suspense but also evidenced with violence therefore that's why we have decided to include the knife and the fake blood to help make the connection with this genre. When choosing what props to use for our detective we wanted the audience to understand that this was based in America therefore the gun is used as in England the detectives and officers don't carry around guns. We also wanted to symbolise a power and the upper hand she has with the gun versus the knife.

The costumes for detective is very smart and almost deceiving to the audience she is wearing a Navy blue suit with black stiletto heels we chose this idea for the costume as we wanted to keep the stereotypical look of a female detective yet her actions contradict the stereotypes of what people would perceive a female officer to be. We wanted her to look powerful and stand tall and we wanted the colours to remain dark as that's what the genre is. She's wearing a FBI tag around her neck which shows her role and as well her importance.

The attackers costume is very dark which runs in parallel with his character he's wearing heavy duty clothing yet his face is more of a creepy killer which is why we added the glasses that we have drawn from inspiration from real life killers. as they are moving around the house, we wanted his clothing to be dark to sort of represent a figure we didn't want him to be in bright clothing we wanted the mood to stay dark and the audience to feel on edge.

And for the boy his clothing is very simple minimalistic black trousers or jeans with a white tee shirt as we don't want to overcomplicate his character as his face is never shown and he's there to symbolise why the other two are doing what they're doing.

For the location we've decided to use a Hurtwood house boarding house We have done this as we know it's quick to get to and also due to covert we know it's safe and we on entering a unknown place. it also has the right feel for what we want we want this to take place in a secluded area to enhance the tension and we like the idea of the inside looking less modern and having an older feel. We feel like this will express our themes and genre.
